PURPOSE: A fuel injector is provided to improve fuel injecting efficiency by removing the residual pressure in a nozzle via the passages of a piston and a piston housing with a solenoid valve and finishing fuel injection in a short time. CONSTITUTION: A plunger(2) is inserted into a compressing chamber(3) of an upper housing(1), and a nozzle(4) is prepared in a nozzle holder(16). A solenoid(6), an armature(7), a spring(8), a needle(9), and a valve body are prepared in a solenoid valve(5). A spacer(11) is installed between the housing and the nozzle holder at a lower portion of the compressing chamber to form a passage for the compressed fuel. A piston(12) having a passage(13) is slidably inserted into a piston housing(14). A passage(15) of the piston housing is connected to a low-pressure drain. The piston housing is adhered to the nozzle holder. The pressure of the nozzle is directly discharged to the low-pressure drain through the passage of the piston housing. Therefore, fuel injection is completed in a short time.
