摘要 The invention relates to a known method for producing an SiO2 preform, according to which a glass-forming starting material is fed to at least one deposition burner and particles are formed from said starting material in the deposition burner flame, which is directed towards a support that rotates around its central axis in a predetermined rotational direction. Said particles are deposited in layers on the cylindrical outer surface of the support to form the SiO2 preform, whilst the deposition burner is displaced back and forth on a predetermined course along the support between reversal points. The aim of the invention is to improve the known method with regard to its deposition efficiency and the homogeneity of the SiO2 preform. To achieve this, the burner flame (7) is directed towards the support (1), in such a way that the principal diffusion direction (8) does not intersect the central axis (2) of the support and runs at a predefined offset (11) contrary to the rotational direction (3) and offset in relation to the central axis of the support (2).
