PURPOSE: An optical element having an antireflection film is provided to solve the problem of achieving an optical element which has a high adhesiveness between a plastic substrate and an antireflection coating as well as excellent heat resistance and impact resistance. CONSTITUTION: An optical element having an antireflection film includes a plastic substrate and provided thereon in this order, a basic layer of niobium(Nb) optionally in admixture with one or more component(s) selected from aluminum(Al), tantalum(Ta), chromium(Cr) and mixtures thereof in an amount of up to 50 wt.-% of the entire layer and an antireflection film.
