The appts. comprises a high-speed machining supply cable (19) connected electrically to the electrode and the workpiece, an alternating current high-frequency machining supply cable (18) connected electrically to the electrode and the workpiece, supply sources (20,11a) respectively for the cables (19,18), and an impedance adjustment circuit (12a). The sources (20,11a) supply the machining gap (6) with current respectively for high-speed and finish machining. High-speed machining is carried out with current of high peak values supplied from the source (20) via the cable (19), while finish machining takes place with current from the source (11a). In the latter case the impedance is adjusted by the circuit (12a) to suppress the effect of the impedance of the cable (19).
