The work station has different work station modules (26,27) and a work surface provided with individual work areas for different tasks, which can be displaced past a work point in an endless sequence and at least one of which is provided with removable and/or interchangeable components (20,21,22). The individual work areas may be provided by individual sectors (17) of a circular or polygonal work surface, supported by a turntable mounted on a base for rotation about a vertical axis, with the work station modules plugged into the base.
