Before contact with the web, the belts (2, 3) are heated. Preferred features: The belt is air-permeable. It is constructed as the screen (5) of the pressing section de-watering the fibrous web (1). The belt is a screen (4) for sheet formation. The belts are heated by hot gas, e.g. air, steam or flue gases, in a hood (6). The gas is blown out at a pressure of 1.2-2 bar, preferably 1.2-1.6 bar. Suction (7) is applied to the side of the belt opposite the hood. Hot fluid is used to clean the belt. In zones transverse to the web, the belt temperature can be varied separately through control of temperature and/or quantity of hot fluid supplied.
