When fuel is gradually injected into the engine, corresponding values are set beforehand until a signal commencing the main fuel injection operation is output, after which a signal characterizing the total quantity of fuel to be injected is output. An Independent claim is also included for a device used in controlling the fuel allocation in an internal combustion engine.
