PURPOSE: An apparatus for assigning service bandwidth variably in a transmission equipment is provided to reduce load of a processor and increase the reliability of a system by designating a starting channel and duration. CONSTITUTION: The first register(50) receives and records a location control signal of a service channel starting variable assignment from a control part of an exchange. The second register(60) receives and records a control signal related to bandwidth of the variably assigned service channel from the control part of the exchange. A starting part(70) receives a starting signal of a variably assignable channel frame, a clock signal having equal period with each channel, and the signal recorded at the first register(50), so that the starting part(70) displays location of the channel starting variable assignment. A loading part(80) outputs a signal starting the channel assigned by the signals recorded at the first register(50) and clock signals generated from a clock generating part of the exchange. An ending part(90) receives the starting signal from the loading part(80), the clock signal having equal period with each channel, and the signal recorded at the second register(60), so that the ending part(90) displays ending channel location of the variably assigned channel. A setting part(95) receives the signals from the starting part(70) and the ending part(90) for settling and outputting whole width of the variably assigned channel.
