PROJECTION SYSTEM EMPLOYING COLOR FILTER

PURPOSE: A projection system employing a color filter is provided to produce a full color image with high luminance by using a simplified configuration of an optical system. CONSTITUTION: A projection system includes an optical source(2) emitting white light, an optical filter(4) for selectively transmitting lights of the visual ray wavelength band of the white lights other than ultraviolet rays and infrared rays, and a polarizing beam splitter(6) for dividing an input beam into an S-polarizing beam and a P-polarizing beam. The projection system further has a reflection type liquid crystal display(8) for receiving the S-polarizing beam from the polarizing beam splitter and producing full color images, a polarizing plate(20) for selectively transmitting a beam of a specific polarizing axis, and a projection lens system(10) for magnifying the images produced by the liquid crystal display and projecting the magnified images on a screen.
