PURPOSE: A slip joint clearance compensator of a universal joint in a steering device is provided to prevent noise and vibration generated in steering by inserting an elastic member between an inner shaft and an outer shaft. CONSTITUTION: A slip joint clearance compensating device of a universal joint for a steering apparatus comprises an inner shaft(11) having a hollow shape; an outer shaft(12) mounted on a slip joint by having a hollow shape; an elastic member(13) inserted between the inner shaft and the outer shaft; a stopper cap(14) closing an end portion of the outer shaft; a first flange unit(14a) mounted on the stop cap; a stopper block(15) sealing a peripheral face of the inner shaft and the first flange unit; a groove(11a) formed on an outer circumference of the inner shaft; and an inserting hole(11b) inserting an end unit(13b) of the elastic member into the groove. Thereby, the slip joint clearance-compensating device of the universal joint prevents noise and vibration generated in steering by inserting the elastic member between the inner shaft and the outer shaft.
