Card present switch (70) has two contact elements (81,82). First contact element (81) is spring switch, with activation device (93) operated by card to elastically deflect element (81) to create contact state. Element is formed so it provides spring force to eject card. Second contact element (82) has rounded contact (97) contacted by part of first element in contact state. First contact element is directly operated by card and inserted card is ejected directly by spring force of element. Independent claim included for smart card connector.
