One or more collaboration computers connected over the network (160) using their web browsers (150 A, B). Each collaboration computer may have one or more window locators (320) that uniquely identify a web browser windows (250) on the browser. The web browser window can be a window where one or more events occur during the collaboration. One or more document locators (330) may be derived from information describing a document path from the respective web browser window to a document (205) within the respective web browser window. The document path (230) can be a path in a hierarchical structure (200) that includes the document and the respective web browser window. One or more transfer data structures may contain the window locator and the document locator and may be passed to and from the collaboration computer through a network connection to enable a collaboration session (400).
