PURPOSE: A recording method for a recording medium is provided to automatically record every one music unit by detecting variation from a desired music to the next music and stopping recording music to a second recording medium, in a mode in which only one music out of plural music of the first recording medium is recorded to a second recording medium. CONSTITUTION: When operation of one music recording is performed, a system controller(11) sends out control data to a voice compression encoder/decoder(14), a signal processing circuit of a memory controller(12) and the like, a servo circuit(9), and the like, and switches the whole operation mode to a recording mode. Successively, the controller(11) accesses a TOC memory(21), detects a recordable region specified by a pointer, and sets a start address of the leading parts of a recordable region based on the detected result. After the lapse of a prescribed period, the leading of successive music is detected by starting monitor of control data output from a compact disk player side. It is judged whether the music is the leading of successive music or not by detecting index information of the control data, and recording operation is stopped.
