Provided are among others epitopes, methods for finding these epitopes and proteinaceous molecules capable of binding to said epitopes. In one aspect the invention provides a proteinaceous molecule capable of specifically binding to an epitope present in a subset of CD46 proteins. Said molecule is capable of distinguishing between CD46 proteins belonging to the subset and CD46 proteins not belonging to the subset. The proteinaceous molecule is preferably an antibody. Medicaments and uses of proteinaceous molecules are provided .
