The present invention provides a method for providing automatic call-forwarding to a mobile unit. The mobile unit is registered as an automatic call-forwarding number for a first phone (201). The first phone can be a landline phone or a wireless phone. Upon detection of the mobile unit coming into service (203), calls intended for the first phone are automatically forwarded to the mobile phone (205). This call-forwarding occurs automatically without further input from a user.
