The method involves supplying, aligning and gluing individual veneer strips (1). A veneer strip is transported, and the passage of its rear edge (5) is detected using a first sensor unit (4). The transport distance to the desired position of the edge of the veneer strip in a area of heating zone (3) is determined from the first sensor unit data, and used to control a transport unit.
