PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce conspicuousness of banding to be formed at a boundary of an overlapping region and a normal region in a system for making the banding between record scannings inconspicuous. SOLUTION: In the overlapping region of a previous record scanning and a present record scanning, thinning-out means, which thins out image data by changing a thinning rate depending on a distance of N line in one record scanning from a center in the direction of sub-scanning, is provided for performing a thinning-out treatment of image data to overlap the record scanning. Thus, the banding formed between record scannings of a printer head which is specific to a serial type is made less conspicuous, since the banding is dispersed to a plurality of places in the overlapping region.
