PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst having high exhaust gas cleaning performance and also having effective cleaning characteristics even in a low temperature range, e.g. immediately after starting an engine. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst comprises a catalyst carrier substrate with a tubular passage through which exhaust gas passes in the axial direction, a coat layer formed on the surface of the catalyst carrier substrate and comprising a zeolite, a fire resistant inorganic oxide and a first catalyst metal carried on the surface of the inorganic oxide and a second catalyst metal carried on a front part which is the end of the coat layer on the upper stream side of exhaust gas and/or a rear part which is the end of the coat layer on the downstream side of exhaust gas. The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst has high HC removing performance. |
