PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording material, which is excellent in the damaging resistance during storage of an ink accepting layer and favorable in the absorbency and lustrous properties of an ink. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording material, which is produced by applying the ink accepting layer including inorganic finely divided particles and a hydrophilic binder on a support formed by covering both the sides of a base paper with a polyolefin resin, the thickness A of the base paper is set to be 50 μm or more and the density of the base material is set to be 1.05 g/cm3 or less. The ratio (B+C)/A is set to be 0.15 to 0.45, B is set to be 5 to 25 μm and preferably a ratio of B to C or B/C is set to be smaller than 1, wherein B is the thickness of the polyolefin resin on the side, on which the ink accepting layer is applied, and C is the thickness of that opposite to B and (B+C) is the sum of the thickness B and the thickness C. |
