MULTI-ELECTRODE CATHETER, SYSTEM AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for detecting a contact between an electrode and a tissue. SOLUTION: A system for detecting a contact between the electrode and the tissue is equipped with a multi-electrode catheter having a position sensor and plural electrodes. The catheter is preferably to be equipped with a standard electrode as it is preferred to be protected from contacting with the tissue. The system is also provided with a signal generator to transmit a signal to each one of the above electrodes and the above standard electrode. The contact with the tissue is detected by comparing the above signal between the above terminal electrode and a returning electrode with respect to the above signal between the above standard electrode and the returning electrode. A removing energy may be supplied to the above contact electrodes when the above contact with the tissue is detected.
