PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tubular membrane element which can contribute to improvement of volume efficiency and reliability and improvement of running cost, and an immersion type filtration system using the same. SOLUTION: The tubular membrane element in which an assembly prepared by assembling a plurality of tubular membranes 2 is inserted through a tubular sheathed case 1 partly provided with a filtrate collecting pipe 4 and openings of both ends of the sheathed case 1 together with end parts of the tubular membranes 2 are potted with a resin 3 and inner faces of the openings of both ends of the sheathes case 1 are made to be recessed or projected, and the immersion type filtration system in which this tubular membrane element is immersed into a stock solution so as to be positioned above a diffuser for bleeding air bubbles by air bubbling to pass the stock solution and the air bubbles through the inside of the tubular membranes and the filtrate is obtained from the filtrate collecting pipe 4 by making the above filtrate collecting pipe side to be negative pressure or by water head pressure difference, are provided.
