PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which enables a rise operation for color printing which requires more time than monochromic printing to be carried out upon necessities, can prevent users from being troubled with an unnecessary wait time and can suppress toner consumption. SOLUTION: A warming-up means of the printer 1 is constituted to be separate for monochromic warming-up and color warming-up which execute warm-up means necessary for monochromic printing and color printing respectively. The color warming-up is carried out in an arbitrary stage after the monochromic warming-up is completed by controlling the warm-up, e.g. on the basis of the judgment result whether or not color data are present in a printing job.
