PRINTER AND PRINTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of preventing an energy waste. SOLUTION: A power supply to a controller part in the printer is received from an interface cable to a host computer. A printer operative/inoperative judging means 101 of the controller part judges whether the printer is operative (executing a job) or inoperative (in an idle state). A printer source ON/OFF means 102 controls to turn on/off a power source in the printer in accordance with the state determined by the printer operative/inoperative judging means 101 that the printer is executing the job or is idle.
