PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording paper which shows outstanding ink absorption, resistance to cock ring and smoothness and further, low cost and high image quality characteristics by unnecessarily increasing the film thickness of an ink receiving layer. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording paper has the ink receiving layer of a space structure containing an inorganic fine particle with 200 nm or less average particle diameter and a hydrophilic binder and featuring that Q1 is 15-35 and Q1/Q2 is 0.3-0.7, provided, however, that Q1 is a liquid transition quantity (ml/m2) in 1.0 sec. contact time by the Bristol process and Q2 is the Cobb water absorption (g/m2) sought in 60 sec. contact time by using a solution of the same composition as used in the Bristol process, according to JIS-P-8140 Water Absorption Test Method. |
