PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene exhibiting a glutamine: fructose-6-phosphate amidotransferase (hereinafter called GFAT), especially the above gene specifically expressed in a skeletal muscle, its expressed material and a composition for preventing and treating diabetes mellitus disease through a new action mechanism. SOLUTION: This gene containing a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide of a specific amino acid sequence originated from a human skeletal muscle, the gene expressed product obtained by expressing the above gene, the recombinant expressing vector having the above gene, the host cell (transformed body) holding the above vector, the protein consisting of the above amino acid sequence, the composition containing the above gene or protein as an active ingredient for treating or preventing hypoglycemia, and an antibody having a binding property with the above protein are provided. |
