PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid material separator in which negative pressure in a storage tank for separated materials is controlled in a prescribed range. SOLUTION: The solid material separator in which a liquid cyclone 20, the storage tank 30 for separated materials which temporarily stores separated materials separated by the liquid cyclone, and a separated material discharging means 40 which discharges the separated materials collected in the storage tank for separated materials are connected sequentially and air-tightly, is provided with a flow control valve 51 provided in a sludge supply pipe 21 of the entry part of the liquid cyclone, a pressure gauge 52 provided in the storage tank 30 for separated materials, and a controller 50 which adjusts the opening of the flow control valve 51 so that the negative pressure in the storage tank 30 for separated materials is in a prescribed range on the basis of the measured value of the pressure gauge 52.
