PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buttonhole forming device for buttonhole sewing machine, which can prevent the side edge part of a buttonhole from fluffing, thread fraying, stitch skipping to improve quality and easily form a buttonhole in various sizes and shapes. SOLUTION: This buttonhole forming device is equipped with an ultrasonic fuse cutter 61 which can fuse-cut processed cloth with bores, a fuse cutter movement mechanism 62 which moves the ultrasonic fuse cutter 61 in a direction crossing the cloth feed direction by a cloth feed mechanism 10, a fuse cutter elevator mechanism 63 which vertically moves the ultrasonic fuse cutter 61, and a controller 5 which drives and controls the ultrasonic fuse cutter 61 and the fuse cutter movement mechanism 62 to feed the processed cloth to the cloth feed mechanism 10 to form a buttonhole inside buttonhole stitches.
