PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining a sugar ester by carrying out effectively a transesterification reaction between a sugar ester and an ester compound in the presence of an enzyme. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a sugar ester comprises the transesterification reaction between a sugar compound and an ester compound in the presence of an enzyme in a hydrophilic organic solvent containing 1-50 vol.% of water.
