PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding device capable of gently holding an article, and improving the packaging speed. SOLUTION: An article sucking holder for elevating, moving and arranging an article comprises a base part suction body having an inner surface, a first opening part for connecting the base part suction body to a suction source, and a second opening part for introducing the article into the base part suction body via the suction force. A contact member is disposed between the first and second opening parts in the base part suction body to demarcate a space between the contact member and the inner surface of the base part suction body, and the suction flow is distributed from the second opening part into the first opening part through the space. A storage chamber is demarcated between the inner surface of the base part suction body, the second opening part and the contact member to store the article sucked inside, and the article is held by the contact member via the suction force.
