PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible tube for an endoscope with excellent springiness and durability. SOLUTION: An insertion part flexible tube 1 has a core material 2 formed of a metallic material, and an outer skin 3 covering the outer periphery of the core material 2. The core material 2 is composed of a spiral tube 21, and a mesh tube 22 covering the outer periphery of the spiral tube 21. A chemical conversion coat 24 is formed on the outer surface of the core material 2. The chemical conversion coat 24 may be formed on the whole outer surface of the core material or may be formed at least at a part of the outer surface of the core material 2. It is preferable that the chemical conversion coat 24 is a chromate coat and that the thickness of the chemical conversion coat 24 is 0.01-100μm.
