METHOD FOR PRODUCING BASIC AMINO ACID

PURPOSE: To provide a technique for reducing the amount to be used of a counter anion source such as ammonium sulfate added to a culture medium when a basic amino acid is produced by fermentation method. CONSTITUTION: When a basic amino acid is produced by aerobically culturing a microorganism having ability to produce a basic amino acid in a liquid culture medium and producing and accumulating the basic amino acid in the culture medium, pH of culture medium during culture is controlled so as to become 6.5-9.0 and pH of culture medium after finishing culture is controlled so as to become 7.2-9.0 and pressure in fermentation tank during fermentation is controlled so as to become positive or carbon dioxide or a mixed gas containing carbon dioxide is fed to the culture medium so as to have incubation period in which bicarbonic acid ion and/or carbonic acid ion in the culture medium exists in an amount of at least >= 2 g/L and bicarbonic acid ion and/or carbonic acid ion is included as a counter anion of cation consisting mainly of the basic amino acid.
