PURPOSE: To obtain the subject splittable type conjugated fiber capable of reducing the weight at a sufficient rate and hardly causing yarn breakage in spinning by specifying a readily alkali-soluble component. CONSTITUTION: This conjugated fiber is smoothly obtained by using a readily alkali-soluble component prepared by adding 1-5wt.% PEG having >=6000 number-average molecular weight, an alkali metallic salt of a carboxylic acid in an amount of 20-500mmol% based on the whole acid component,of a modified polyester and 0.02-3wt.% hindered phenol compound to a copolymerized polyethylene terephthalate (a modified polyester) by copolymerizing 1-5 mol% isophthalic acid having a metallic sulfonate group and a polyester containing ethylene terephthalate as a main recurring unit. The conjugated fiber has a fiber cross-sectional shape in which the polyester is divided into plural parts with the readily alkali-soluble component rich in thermal stability. |
