A method of storing conifer somatic embryo germinants that have been germinated on a germination medium, for delayed transplanting into growing medium. The method comprises removing the germinants from the germination medium and placing them in water for a time greater than about 1 hour at a temperature below 24oC. The germinants are then removed from the water and transplanted into a potting medium for further growth.
