The one-time use sensor for determining the presence of zinc ions in water has a protective casing. It comprises a rectangular polyester lamina, in the center of which is a circular film, which constitutes the active part of the sensor. Its change of color, from green to red, when the sensor is introduced into the water, indicates the concentration of zinc by comparison with a color chart. Preservation of the sensor is obtained by introducing it into an opaque casing, hermetically sealed, together with gaseous sulfur dioxide.
