A method of flow activation of granular and/or pulverulent material, said method comprising the steps of incorporating a movable element (4) in a hopper for the material, and setting the movable element (4) in motion for counteracting bridging, a main flow direction being definable in the material, characterized in that the method comprises the step of exerting a force by means of the movable element (4) exclusively on that part of the material that is present above the bridging area (7), said force having a component against the main flow direction.
