Electrochemical sensor comprises a sensor electrode arrangement (1); an operating electronic device for operating the electrode arrangement and for processing electrical signals received; and a microprocessor (20) integrated on a chip of the electronic device for receiving and further processing signals from the device. A potential-sensitive switch is built into the sensor as a digital controlling switch. Preferred Features: A memory (24) is present in which the operating parameters of the electrode arrangement are stored. The microprocessor is prepared so that it reads the parameters from the memory and carrying out control algorithms independently.
