A radio base station comprises a response vector calculating section (561), an RSSI measuring section (562), an MSE calculating section (563), and an FD calculating section (564) that acquire the index indicating the communication quality of at least one of two mobile stations. The radio base station further comprises a control section (80) that judges whether or not spatial multiplexing is appropriate on the basis of the index and performs, if appropriate, spatial multiplex communication. As a result, the radio base station can perform spatial multiplex communication with mobile stations while maintaining a constant communication quality.
