PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and inexpensively producing Ni metal powder of which at least a part of the surface is coated with a vitreous oxide layer. SOLUTION: A mixed solution of a compound containing glass-forming elements and containing at least one or more kinds of oxide sols and a water soluble Ni2+-reducing agent complex compound is atomized into an N2 atmosphere heated to the melting point of a vitreous film to be obtained or above and is thermally decomposed. The above N2+-reducing agent complex compound can be obtained as an aqueous solution by bringing hydroxyacetone into reaction with hydrazine to obtain ketohydrazone and thereafter reacting the ketohydrazone with an aqueous solution of an Ni compound.
