PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defrosting controller for a refrigerator executing an energy conservation and suppressing an indoor temperature rise without impairing a quality of stocked food by changing a start or a stop of a cooling drive time before next defrosting to control in response to a drive integrating time of a compressor from an end of a previous defrosting drive, a circumferential temperature and times of opening and closing of a door. SOLUTION: The defrosting controller for the refrigerator comprises a circumferential temperature detector 6 for detecting the circumferential temperature of the refrigerator, a compressor drive integrating timer 1f for integrating the driving time of the compressor 2, a door opening/closing detector 5 for detecting opening/closing of the door, a counter 1d for counting the opening/closing of the door, a number-of-times-of- opening/closing detector 7 for detecting a defrosting drive end, and an indoor temperature detector 8 for detecting the indoor temperature to stop the drive of the compressor. Thus, in order to conduct the defrost drive for defrosting a frost adhered to an evaporator, the controller controls the cooling drive time before next defrosting in response to the drive integrating time of the compressor 2 from the end of the previous defrosting drive, the circumferential temperature and a number of times of opening/closing of the door.
