The invention explains, inter alia, integrated waveguide arrangements (10) in which a waveguide with glass core (14, 16) and glass sheath is arranged in a waveguide layer (12) consisting of glass. A foreign region (18) made from a material other than glass extends in the vicinity of the waveguide. A temperature-adjustment unit is used to heat and/or cool the foreign region (18). The foreign region (18) is integrated in the waveguide region (12). This measure considerably simplifies production of the waveguide arrangement compared to known processes.
