<p>An ultrasonic imaging method and apparatus are described for imaging a volumetric region using a two dimensional array transducer. The array scans beams over the volumetric region and spatially distinct beams are formed by beamforming. The scanline density is increased by interpolating additional scanlines using the received beams. Preferably linear interpolation is employed using weighting factors which are based upon a factor of two, thereby affording simple and fast interpolation processing.</p> |
