The stent (15) inserted into the artery with a catheter (10) and inflated in order to restore free blood circulation is made of a single thin stainless steel wire (18), which can be carbon coated, the thickness of the wire (18) determining the strength of the device (15). The wire (18) is knitted into a tube shape on a special knitting machine either by using a plain stitch or a lock stitch. The stent (15) is of an appropriate stability in the compressed state as in insertion as well as in the expanded state after being positioned. |
