PURPOSE: To make a spool locking mechanism of a double bearing reel scarcely cause the fracture or deformation even if an excessive force acts in the spool locking mechanism of the double bearing reel. CONSTITUTION: This spool locking mechanism 8 of the double bearing reel is a mechanism for locking a spool mounted on the reel body 1 of the double bearing reel freely rotatably in both directions and having a pair of flange parts at both ends in a nonrotatable state in the line delivering direction and is equipped with a locking part 21, a lock moving mechanism 22 and lock recessed parts 23. The locking part 21 is mounted on the reel body 1 freely movable from an advancing position to a retreating position. The lock moving mechanism 22 is a mechanism for moving the locking part 21 from the advancing position to the retreating position. The lock recessed parts 23 are installed on the outer lateral surface of a flange part 3b on the side of mounting a handle and is capable of engaging with the tip of the locking part 21 advanced to the advancing position.
