摘要 The invention relates to a gate turn valve transverse driving mechanism, designed to improve the ship manoeuvre capacity, at null or low sailing speed of ship in limited manoeuvre spaces and is an improvement for the main invention RO 113630. According to the invention, the driving mechanism pumps water by means of two fix pitch propelling screws having their vertical rotation axes located in a plane parallel to the ship diametral plane, the distance between the axes being shorter than the screws diameter and the theoretical planes of the two screws (3 and 3') coincide, their rotation performing in the same plane: some shafts (10 and 10') of the screws (3 and 3') being engaged by a speed reduction unit type mechanism with one inlet and two outlets, that assures the rotation syncronization, so, that theblades of the two screws (3 and 3') blades do not to interfere, the obviously elongated form of a section through a transverse driving mechanism body (5) gradually evolving, from the aspect of some secant circles with joined intersection corners, said aspect existing in the screws (3 and 3') location zone, to the rectangular form with joined corners, existing at some corners (6 and 6') exits the cross sections normal to some axles (9 and 9') driving some blades (7 and 7') of a gate turn valve having the shape of a circular arc, second degree curve, ellipse, multiangular line with interfastened segments or combinations of these types of curves, the driving axles (9 and 9') being located in the medial zone of corners (6 and 6') so that when the gate turn valve is open the circles that locally approximate the shape of the blades of the gate turn valve (7 and 7') and the shape of the interior wall of the knuckles (6 and 6') be concentric.
