PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording/reproducing device capable of realizing an excellent recording/reproducing operation even in the case of performing reflection type reproducing. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing device is provided with a fiber probe (15) which has a tip end opening smaller than the core diameter and forms light from a light source (11) as near-field light or propagating light in the area having a largeness less than the wavelength on a recording medium, a non-polarizing beam splitter (13) wherein light shone on the recording medium deflects again light which wave-guides the fiber probe (15) and returns in the direction different from the light source, a photodetector (18) which detects the intensity of light separated by the non-polarizing beam splitter (13), and a polarizing element (16) which is arranged in the optical path connecting the non-polarizing beam splitter (13) to the photodetector (18) and transmits light in the same polarizing direction as the light source (11). |
