PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative type image recording material capable of recording from digital data with an IR laser, ensuring suppressed ablation in laser scanning in recording, having high strength of a formed image area and capable of forming a planographic printing plate excellent in printing resistance. SOLUTION: The negative type image recording material adaptable to a heat mode can record an image by heat-mode exposure and contains (A) a high molecular compound insoluble in water, soluble in an aqueous alkali solution and having at least one of groups of formulae (1)-(3) (where R1-R11 are each a monovalent organic group; X, Y and Z are each O, S,-N-R12 or phenylene; and R12 is H or a monovalent organic group) in a side chain, (B) a photothermal converting agent and (C) a compound capable of forming a radical by heat-mode exposure with light of a wavelength which can be absorbed in (B) the photothermal converting agent. |
