PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine-drive heat pump type air conditioner capable of improving a COP at a heating time by using a heat storage tank, and also provide a method for operating the same. SOLUTION: In a heat storage tank heating mode, a high temperature and high pressure refrigerant gas output from a compressor 3 enters an indoor heat exchanger 5 via a refrigerant circuit L2, gives a heat to indoor air, and is condensed. Further, the refrigerant becoming a low pressure via an expansion valve 6 obtains a heat from the atmosphere supplied by a fan 11 in an outdoor heat exchanger 7, is evaporated to become a low temperature and low pressure gas. The refrigerant gas is returned to the compressor 3 via a refrigerant circuit L4, a valve V2, a refrigerant circuit L5, a four-way valve 4 and a refrigerant circuit 6. Meanwhile, an engine exhaust heat generated during this period is stored in the heat storage tank 8 via a cooling water circuit 9. In a storage heat utilizing operation mode, the low pressure refrigerant does not absorb heat from the atmosphere, but arrives at the tank 8 via the circuit L4, the valve V1 and an exhaust heat recovering circuit 10. Here, the engine exhaust heat is recovered, the refrigerator is evaporated, to become a low pressure refrigerant gas, and the low pressure refrigerant gas is returned to the compressor 3. |
