PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a tracking control with less error in a helical scan method with a narrow track and having a high rotation per minute of drum in a magnetic recording/reproducing device. SOLUTION: The values of tracking error signals in the period of a high signal and the period of a low signal of a DFF signal consisting of the high signal and the low signal produced by one rotation of the drum are stored by an adder 52 and RAMs 55-1, 55-2, then, the control is made so that a reproduction head 31 follows up the track on the basis of the added value.
