PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a double inlet type pulse tube refrigerator has an unstable operation though the refrigerator has better performance than that of another pulse tube refrigerator and the double inlet type refrigerator cannot maintain a good operation. SOLUTION: The double inlet type pulse tube refrigerator comprises a second orifice valve connecting pipe 11 for communicating with a reservoir 4 at one end and communicating with a compressor 8 and a cold storage unit 6 at the other end. In this double inlet type refrigerator, the other end of the pipe 11 is branched, one side of the branched pipe 11 is connected to a high pressure pipeline 9 of the compressor 8 via a first second orifice valve 12 and the other of the pipe 11 is connected to a low pressure pipeline 10 of the compressor 8 via a second orifice valve 13. A first temperature sensor 14 is provided at a high temperature part 2 of a pulse tube 1, a second temperature sensor 15 is provided at a low temperature part 5, and the sensor output is inputted to a controller 16. The controller 16 detects a difference of both the temperatures as an operating state of the pulse tube refrigerator. Thus, opening and closing of the first and second orifice valves are feedback controlled.
