PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas meter and a deciding method for abnormality regarding gas supply which can improve the reliability of decision making regarding alarming operation. SOLUTION: A CPU 12 after confirming that the absolute value of a flow rate differenceΔQS is larger than a reference flow rate QSK (|ΔQS|>=QSK) detects the point which decreases after the absolute value of the flow rate differenceΔQS increases, i.e., a flow rate difference peak. When the detected flow rate difference peak is a position flow rate difference peak which decreases after the flow rate differenceΔQS increases, the CPU 12 judges that a gas instrument newly operates. Thus, the operation state of the gas instrument is recognized always accurately, so the reliability of decision making regarding the alarming operation is improved.
